Lacy's jump school from last week... I was debating posting it because I wasn't riding my best. It's crazy what happens when school and life gets in the way of lessons. My riding goes downhill quick. The vet came for a chiropractic visit Wednesday and she didn't find anything of interest about Lacy, which is always a great thing. I told her Lacy had been a little not herself over fences, jumping flat and almost lazy with her legs. We came to the conclusion that with two jump schools a week, and more recently with one being an XC schooling, I had kind of been jumping the legs off her. This week we're doing much more flatwork and hill trotting out in the field. The Poplar HT is coming up next weekend and I don't know how I feel about it. I'm really getting in my head again about our bad spot on XC at their schooling show in July. Novice only 3" higher than BN, but it really psychs me out every time. If this isn't the cutest thing ever! Here's some of Nautica's canter work in his ride-a-test clinic for our intro C class. We were creating more "jump" in his hind end, literally. Nautica is learning to love cavaletti work and he now thinks he's the world's best show jumper. We're not going to tell him otherwise... Can you believe he's actually more intuitive about his distances than my TB was when she started? Maybe not as coordinated, but there's a lot more of him to control. Low quality picture of a high quality mare doing her thing at last weekend's school at Percy Warner! 💯 She handled all the novice questions like a pro and even hopped around some of the training course. While the actual training jump fences aren't proving to be a problem, the course, terrain and putting it all together is a bit challenging, as it should be for training level. I feel like novice is right where we need to chill for a while while we get Lacy's pace, balance and adjustability much more finessed. Not to mention the dressage work we need to put in... Anyway, here was my weekly Lacy update!
